Our School & Instructional Methods
Raising Saints Since 1902
Our Mission is to educate each child academically, spiritually, morally, and socially in a Christ-centered environment. Saint Paul School offers preschool through sixth grade. We take great pride in our academics, community involvement and leadership development.
Saint Paul School is the only Catholic School in McDonough County and provides a caring environment for over 160 Catholic and non-Catholic students each year. Through instruction in the Catholic faith, Saint Paul School emphasizes developing positive attitudes, values and a pattern for living based on the teachings of Jesus.
Preschool
The early childhood program nurtures the child's love of God, love of family and love of learning. The program expands a child's world ideas through play and discovery. Three year old preschool is held for 3 1/2 hours on Tuesdays and Thursday. Four year old preschool is held all day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Grades K-3
The primary grades have an integrated curriculum with a concentrated focus on play-based learning. The children are engaged in hands-on activities which enhance their learning.
Grades 4-6
Project-based learning is implemented through cross curricular novel studies to emphasize critical thinking in all subject matters. Math and science are conducted through inquiry based, hands-on activities including STEM instruction. Their focus is on collaboration, creativity, problem-solving and effective communication. All classes receive instruction in religion, literature, language arts, creative writing, mathematics, science, spelling, handwriting, social studies, technology, library, music, art and physical education.
Teaching Staff
Saint Paul School faculty consists of nine full-time certified teachers (preschool through sixth grade). We also have music, physical education, library, art and Title I reading staff.
Technology
Each classroom is wireless and equipped with its own network of computers. Chromebooks are available in classrooms to every student. A wireless sound field and Clever Touch help to enhance the curriculum.
Library
Each week students access our library that features a digital check out system and more than 4,000 books.
Extra-Curricular
Once children are in 5th and 6th grade, boys have the option to participate in basketball and girls are able to participate in basketball and volleyball.
