We are always surrounded by foreigners, as they were at the time when the prophet Isaiah was writing. The question before him was whether foreigners should also share in God\u2019s salvation. Isaiah gave a clear answer: \u201cMy house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.\u201d God\u2019s house is open to all who worship Him.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"971\" data-end=\"1283\">Being a foreigner or a stranger does not exclude anyone from worshiping the Lord. The Canaanite woman in today\u2019s Gospel shows us this truth. Despite the discouraging words Jesus spoke to her, she remained firm in her faith and asked Jesus to save her sick daughter. She believed that Jesus had come for everyone.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1285\" data-end=\"1841\">The woman who came to Jesus was a pagan and a member of a people who were enemies of the Jews. Yet she showed remarkable faith in Jesus. She was not discouraged by rejection or by the lack of support from those around her. Even when Jesus spoke about the children and the dogs, she remained humble. Her faith, courage, and humility touched the heart of Jesus, and He opened the door of healing for her daughter. A mother never gives up when her child is in need. The Canaanite woman is held up to us as an example of faith, courage, perseverance, and love.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1843\" data-end=\"2254\">Saint Paul reminds us that, despite our differences and diversity, God never takes back His gifts. Those who turn to Him can always hope to receive His mercy. Today, the Lord invites us to look beyond differences, welcome the stranger, and recognize that God\u2019s love and salvation are offered to all.
