Our meditation today focuses on the Divine Call. This call can be addressed either to an individual person or to a group of people, as we see in today\u2019s readings. In the first reading, God speaks to the people of Israel through his servant Moses. He reminds them that they have been chosen from among all nations to be his own people. Through his saving power, he brought them out of slavery and carried them \u201con eagle\u2019s wings\u201d to himself. This beautiful image reveals the tenderness and strength of God\u2019s love. Like an eagle, majestic and powerful, yet deeply caring for its young, God watches over his people, protects them, and leads them safely on their journey.<\/p>\n
In the Gospel, we encounter another divine calling. Jesus, who was sent by the Father, calls a group of disciples to himself. He gathers them not only to be with him but also to share in his mission. He sends the apostles to continue his work of redemption by proclaiming the coming of the Kingdom of God and by bringing healing, hope, and mercy to those in need. This call is not limited to Israel or to the apostles. All of us are called into a covenant of love with God and are sent forth as witnesses to the world. The Father sent Jesus; Jesus sent his disciples; and through their witness, we too are sent. Our mission is to proclaim that the Kingdom of God is at hand and that, through Christ, we are freed from the bondage of sin and death and reconciled to God through the sacrifice of his Son.<\/p>\n
This is the mission shared by all followers of Christ. It is a mission not only of words but also of actions; of living our faith, showing compassion, extending forgiveness, and bringing Christ\u2019s love to others. As we reflect on God\u2019s call today, let us ask for the grace to respond generously and faithfully. May we never forget that we are God\u2019s beloved people, chosen and sent to make his love known in the world. And with the psalmist, may we always \u201cserve the Lord with gladness\u201d and come before him with joyful hearts, knowing that we are his people, the flock he lovingly tends. Amen.<\/p>\n
